What's interesting to me is why so many people claim it's much more painful for an adult. Is it because an adult can tell us about the pain? I mean, think about it. A newborn's forskin is very tight, whereas an adult's is retractable. The later sounds less painful to me!

'Course I'm not a man so I can't say! LOL
That says it all!

Thank God Polish people don't circ cuz my husband would have been in for a fight if he wanted to circ my son. So, my baby (now 3 1/2) has never had an infection or anything like that. I guess my husband is the first non-circ'd man I was ever with but the difference isn't that huge, really. I agree with those who say that we have no way of knowing how much pain they are feeling and why give an infant that much pain as an introduction into a world where pain will come soon enough.

I know this post isnt a debate over circumcision, but I am going to choose to have my son circumcised and its not because I'm uneducated. I have talked this over with my husband, and I've done research online. There are benefits to circumcision. Also what has influenced my decision is that when my brother was 5 he ended up having to be circumcised...wasnt a nice experience for a 5 year old lol.

While I would choose to have an older child or a man be circumcised rather than an infant, simply because the older male can *rationalize* through the pain, all these stories of men "needing" to be circ'd later in life weird me out a bit. Why would a circ became necessary?

I've never known a man who has needed a circ later in life. You don't hear about this in places where non-circumsized is the norm, so I am somewhat skeptical that this is really medically necessary all that often.
