More "gems" from our local hospital's online nursery (if awards were given out, they'd win the ones in parentheses, IMO):

baby girl Ka'Nia Miniece Luretha Renee ("could you give the kid one more name please"; "making up names"; "abuse of apostrophe"; "random capitalization")

baby girl NeVaeh Lin-Jean ("could you give the kid one more name please"; "making up names"; "abuse of hyphen"; "random capitalization")

baby girl CiQuoya Nevaeh-Cecita ("could you give the kid one more name please"; "making up names"; "abuse of hyphen"; "random capitalization"; "abuse of phonics")

baby girl Na'Taya Danese ("making up names"; "abuse of apostrophe"; "random capitalization"; "abuse of phonics")

baby girl Ti'atti Macole Darlene ("could you give the kid one more name please"; "making up names"; "abuse of apostrophe"; "huge potential for teasing" [titty???])

baby girl La'Kaiah Unique ("making up names"; "abuse of apostrophe"; "random capitalization"; "abuse of phonics"; "seriously????" [we know she's unique, you don't need to name her that!])

baby girl Xaydriana Katharyn Christine Marie ("could you give the kid one more name please"; "making up names")

baby girl Ty'Nasia La'Nessa ("making up names"; "abuse of apostrophe"; "random capitalization")

baby girl Aaleyiah LeeAnne ("making up names"; "too many vowels / not enough consonants"; "abuse of phonics")

baby girl Phytyn Nyquole ("making up names"; "abuse of phonics"; "did you have a cold and didn't want to take Nyquil so you're Fighting it??")

baby boy Noe' Angel ("abuse of apostrophe"; "huge potential for teasing" [you know you had a BOY, right???])

baby boy Anthony Antonio Lamar Jr ("could you give the kid one more name please"; "redundancy" [Anthony Antonio???]; "sticking poor Junior with a name you already got stuck with")

baby boy D'Eireus DaKareeyon ("making up names"; "abuse of apostrophe"; "random capitalization"; "abuse of phonics")

baby boy Dorian Sheraud ("huge potential for teasing" [you know you had a BOY, right???])

baby boy Kashmere Achilles ("making up names"; "huge potential for teasing" [you know you had a BOY, right???])

baby boy Cillian Lex ("making up names"; "huge potential for teasing" [you know you had a BOY, right??? or am I the only one who thinks "Priscilla" when they see this???])

baby boy Truman Radford Jonathan ("could you give the kid one more name please")

baby boy Key'Shawn Cantrell ("making up names"; "abuse of apostrophe"; "random capitalization")

baby boy Sin-Zcere Te'Rique Mondrail ("could you give the kid one more name please"; "making up names"; "abuse of apostrophe"; "abuse of hyphen"; "random capitalization"; "abuse of phonics"; "couldn't you have given the poor kid at least ONE name that looked like a NAME???")

OK who ever the Creative individual is that thinks "la-ah" should be pronounced "ladasha" should be forced to take an IQ test to check for MR. In English that punctuation when used in writing words is called a HYPHEN!

Ok I'm going to spaz the next time I hear about:
the Jello twins, Sh1thead, Meconium, Female, Vagina, or placenta, or another STD kid.

Now so far the hands down funniest has to of been "sexybird"

I personally Hate how the new big names is Isabella (can we say stripped) and the nick name we'll call her Bella I Know WAY too many dogs with that name. Isabelle isn't nearly as bad and it's only one latter away

People should lay off naming their kids names that the family dog has: Bella, precious, lady, queen etc.

Also what is with the trend of naming your child a "childish" nickname? They're going to need to be an adult someday Hard to take serious a guy named something like "Mikey"

I'm not in L&D yet (hope too soon) However here are some of the more out there names I've seen:
Lyria
Mohamed Mohamed
Phuc (yup pronounced how you think)
ming-ming poo (she was actually not a patient but a Professor I had in college)
Harold Sachs (Yep Harry Sacks, principal in middle school of all places)
Richard Head III (his parents, grandparents, and great grandparents all deserve a slap for that one, and so does he for actually responding to people who called him dick)
Hmm can't think of much else @ the moment

What is with the sudden facination with turn of the 19th and 20th century girls names? Personally I know they are popular but I think they are so hideous something you would name a cow literally
Bessie
Emma
Ella
Ruth
Jude
Etta
Agnes

In just two years of OB nursing I have heard of one pt that wanted to name her daughter Meconium but one of our nurses talked her out of it, she named her A'Blessing, same pt had another child (6th baby) I m unique (it was spelled a lil bit different but pronounced that way)(Mom's name was Spring btw), had one name thier son Shadow, another with 3 girls Sailor Pirate, twins-Stormy Dawn and Sienna Day, one name their daughter Desire (just get her stripper clothes now) and I am sure there are more but I just can't remember. I need to start writing them down. It just gets worse and worse!
(Oh and I swear on my life that all these are true....including the woman wanting to name her daughter Meconium)

If anyone has seen the Seinfeld episode, my step brother literally named his daughter Seven. Can you believe that?!

Also, my cousin's name is Lake. I don't know what my aunt was thinking with that one either.

I have taken care of a baby girl named Seven. My daughter also has a close friend (whom I have met) with a boy named Seven. Neither one was familiar with the Seinfeld episode when the kids were named.
