Haven't come across any unusual names at the hospital lately, but while working on a Toys for Tots hotline for the holidays I've come across some doosies. There was a girl named "Dream". Some of them I can't even remember how to spell but were really out there. But I think that some parents think it's really cute when they name a girl "Honey" with the last name of "Bear." It might be cute when they're little, but what if that little sweet little girl wants actually gets a brain and wants to get into management one day?
I can see it now. She's the manager of an oil company or something, and they tell people, "Yeah. You need to speak with Honey Bear."
Poor kid.

OMG.. I've just had the worst day... but all these names have me cracking up! I work as a Health Unit Coordinator on a Peds unit... we've definitely had our share of bizarre names... but the kicker was when one of our favorite OB/GYN MDs was going to name his own baby Summers Eve.... :uhoh21:

I had a patient whose baby's middle name was Nevaeh- pronounced Na-Vay-Ah. (Heaven spelled backwards.)

Nice and creative. I like the sound of it.
One recently was Oceania for a girl. of course there have been many wierd names that I can't remember. (I like this name.)Twina and Twinb (twin 'a' and twin 'b') by parents who thought the babies had already been named. (That's sad that the parents thought their children had already been named.

Harry Johnson. Wonder if he was kin to Dick Ball?
How about Richard, shortened to Dick. Last name: Glick. Of course, he's on OB/GYN in our area.
Think about it.

One unfortunate little girl was called Melena, and although the parents clearly had no idea, I thought "bloody stool" every time I heard the name.
I know a Melena too, and until I read your post and googled I had no idea either! I doubt anyone outside the medical profession has any idea, really.

in 1983 when in nursing school the names of pts could still be placed on the outside of hospital room doors. there was a pt named Bunney Easter= Easter,Bunney on the door. very humorous when you are 18!!!

Not a patient of mine, but a friend told me this one the other day. Child's name is pronounced Mackenzie, which is not so unusual, but here's how the parents decided to spell it, apostrophes included... M'K'N'Z'Y.... my question is W'H'Y!
A patient had twins. She named them The and Their. Their last name was Other. The Other and Their Other. Only in Memphis!
