What's the weirdest baby name?

Specialties Ob/Gyn Nursing Q/A

Hi, I was wondering about some of those weird names that you've probably encountered in L&D and PP. I remember when I had my maternity rotation a couple of weeks ago, one of the nurses said she remembers a patient that named her child Placenta. I couldn't believe it that some child has to live his life named after disgusting afterbirth!

Diesel, Buck Hunter and Beau Hunter, Dementia (Dee-Men-Tee-Ah), Winter storm (born in April), Tara Rizer (terrorizer)

Just got done with my OB clinicals and this one baby's name was "Calvin Doy"

Not to mention another one was Country Rhodes

"Cilia" :uhoh3:

Cilia are tiny hairs present in nostrils and lungs that prevent dirt and dust from clogging breathing tubes (the bronchi) by moving a layer of sticky mucous along to clean out the airway ......................................................

My mother knew of a woman that named her daughter PLACENTA and I heard of a boy named BRAXTON HICKS.

2 women that worked at the school canteen were named Sue Ridge and Ann Crap... image having those names and working in a school! I have also heard of a Brooke (first name) Lynn (middle name) Bridge ( last name) and I saw on the news once a reporter named Will Power:eek: ... I swear you would never leave home if you had those names! :chair:

"Samej," pronounced "Samah-jay," is the name my pt had picked out for her unborn daughter. She was naming the baby after the FOB, named James, who happened to be in jail at the time for breaking the pt's arm... :uhoh21:

A lady at our local hospital when I worked there named her daughter "Witchy".

Ben Dover......poor kid's pubecent now

Twins, named D'boy and D'girl!:confused:

I am LMAO at this thread! :lol2:

I named my son Jared Ethan. Something normal! I picked the Jared part. My sister recommended Ethan, but she wanted it to be his first name. I liked it as "Jared Ethan", so I ran it past my husband. He liked it too. So we stuck with it. Only downside: his initals spell JEM, but still, how often do you write only his initials? Most of the time if he initials something, it'll be JM, so that, again, is normal.

I feel bad for the children you guys have been mentioning! I would never want to traumatize my child like that! After all, they are the ones that have to live with the name!
