What's the weirdest baby name?

Specialties Ob/Gyn Nursing Q/A

Hi, I was wondering about some of those weird names that you've probably encountered in L&D and PP. I remember when I had my maternity rotation a couple of weeks ago, one of the nurses said she remembers a patient that named her child Placenta. I couldn't believe it that some child has to live his life named after disgusting afterbirth!

Don't know if you have seen this one yet but, it is pronounced Ash-o-lay spelled A-S-S-H-O-L-E

I know of a mom who named her baby girl "lady parts" pronounced the same as Jeana but with the "Vah" sound before it. How would you like to go through life writing your name as a female reproductive organ? Poor kid!

These are too funny! Goes to show how all over the place people can be! I saw one, "Oceana Blue", seems a little much. This other one is a kicker, La-shia. Now how would you pronounce that? The mom got mad when it was prounounced "Lashia" and angrily corrected "Ladasha" You are supposed to actually say "dash" in there... really!?, really!!

one patient named her daughter Agoddess.

These dash (-) names crack me up. If they told me, "The dash isn't silent.", I'd be tempted to say, " Honey, dashes are ALWAYS silent." :smackingf :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

"Talula Does the Hula in Hawaii"

I heard about this one in the news about a year ago. A quick google search (I couldn't remember the exact "name" as it's technically a "phrase") brought me to this:

My favorite of the "allowed" names: "Number 16 Bus Shelter"

Mom did even get that right. If we are going to verbalize the dash it would be Ladashshia
