When my wife and I found out we were having twins, her parents said we would not be able to leave the twins with them to go out because they wanted peace and quiet at night. I'm still upset my wife wouldn't let me name them Peace & Quiet. I guess I could have signed the birth certificates when she was drugged up, but I got enough issues at home without creating more...

The worst we had was a sweet baby boy named "Lucifer". I confirmed with the young mother that she knew the meaning of this, she replied that she did and that her grandmother didn't like the name. Wow, poor sweetheart!

Also there was another couple that put "XLII" for the suffix of their baby boy, we wanted to double check that was correct for the birth certificate, it was. They said it was 'the meaning of the universe' or something from Hitch Hikers Guide to the universe. Not nearly as bad as Lucifer though!

These are just the a couple I have seen in my few short (2+) yrs on the OB unit! Many more to come, I am sure!!

A dad proudly announced the name of his daughter "Nevaeh......it's Heaven spelled backwards"
That's actually quite a popular name right now. I don't know where it came from.

A baby was born at my hospital and named Angel Nevaeh, but let's give the parents, who were both still in high school, a pass because she was not expected to live, and didn't. She died at the age of 3 days.

My Fiancee was almost named Justin Thyme... Mother already had a girl named Bethany Rose. His father intervened, and he got a middle name he deems much worse - Russell.

The name itself is not so very weird, but the reason for it is strange. One of my roommates when I had my son named her daughter either Chablis or Chardonnay; someone questioned her was it for the wine? Her response was no, it was after one of Kathy Lee Gifford's dogs.
