What's The Weirdest Name You've Heard A Patient Name Her Baby? - page 151

Hi, I was wondering about some of those weird names that you've probably encountered in L&D and PP. I remember when I had my maternity rotation a couple of weeks ago, one of the nurses said she... Read More

Should have known it was coming...........we had 3 deliveries last week that were boys named Barack!
Just curious - white or not?

Alternate spellings of this are on their way too - you just know it.

Also, expect a surge of little girls named Michelle, Malia, and Sasha.

I heard somewhere that the various spellings of "Hillary" were starting to make a comeback in the early 1990s, and after Bill Clinton was elected, totally dropped off the radar.:spin:

Barack is a common name in the middle east.

No, known of these babies are white. I did not know Barack was a common Middle Eastern name, I had never heard that name before Obama.
Also Miley has become a very popular girl name here. I know one pt. let her 7 yo daughter name her new sister and she wanted to name her Miley Cyrus Hannah Montana, but they settled on Miley with a family middle name.
We also had a pt. who found out she had breast cancer during her pregnancy, she named her baby girl Hope.

Barak is a biblical name from the book of Judges. If his family intended an Arabic name,it would be a shortened form of Mubarak, which I believe means "blessed".

Thankfully my kids have "normal" names. But i remeber when i was pregnant with my oldest. I was 19 and the father was not in the picture. Still isnt. My parents were very supportive and one day after a dr visit, my mom and i were in the car, and looking over some handouts we had gotten at the office, and in them was a booklet of baby names. I was still undecided on a name, and decided to look through it. Needless to say, they were not names i would have named a child! The two that stuck out that we joked about a while were "Salisbury Udo" and "Chlamydia Zits". And they handed these out at a doctors office!!!!!!! We did jokingly call my son Udo during the pregnany, although he was named Daniel Warren (both famliy names). And a friend of mine swore that she would name her first daughter Dharma Calypso...thank God she had a son!!!!

I was talking to my Grandma the other day, she recently retired from nursing and here are some of the unique names she's heard:

Wakinya, Wakinyan, LaDainian, TaTonka, Tonka Trucker, Frito Layke(After Frito Lay, because mom craved Frito's).
This was in a Nativa American Community so that explains the name that we consider odd! She said she worked with a nurse named Violet LoveLace!
I was toyed with my ex husband and told him I was going to name our daughter Frida. Our last name actually is Lay. Also I really loved the name Mia but as you can see that wouldn't have been the best for a little girl. I settled on Halah. My mom HATED it. But, no other name in this world would capture my daughter like her name does! It was a city in ancient Macedonia, as well as a lovely song by Mazzy Star.

I wanted to name my son Blaise. After Blaise Pascal. But the ex said no. Now my son who is named Joseph and is almost 8 wants me to start calling him Blaise. LOL:heartbeat

    I like Blaise!

EASTON, Pa. (AP)-The father of 3-year-old Adolf Hitler Campbell, denied a birthday cake with the child's full name on it by one New Jersey supermarket, is asking for a little tolerance. Heath Campbell and his wife, Deborah, are upset not only with the decision made by the Greenwich ShopRite, but with an outpouring of angry Internet postings in response to a local newspaper article over the weekend on their flare-up over frosting.
The Campbells' other two children also have unusual names: JoyceLynn Aryan Nation Campbell turns 2 in a few months and Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie Campbell will be 1 in April.

And yet, the father claims he isn't racist.

My husband met a lady who's first name was "Nursemate." Why would you do that to your child? He thought she was saying she was a nurse but apparently not, it's just her name, LOL.

Lucifer - We tried and tried to convince the 14-year-old mother to change it, but no go. Poor kid.
