What kind of nurse am I, really??

by MBU_RN

I recently passed the NCLEX and have been an RN on a Mother Baby Unit for a month now. I'm currently on orientation in the newborn nursery for a few weeks. Then, I'll be orienting on the floor itself (couplet care) for another month. A year from now, I will do orientation on our OB Special Care floor as well. Most of our nurses rotate between the three areas. You might be working nursery today, couplet care tomorrow and OB Special Care next week.

So, my question is: what kind of nurse do I call myself?? Am I a neonatal RN or an OB RN?

Perinatal RN! You do it all....everything surrounding birth is your scope!

Why do you need a defining title at this stage of the game? RN should be sufficient!
