What can I do to find the job of my dreams?

Specialties Ob/Gyn

I just graduated nursing school and am having trouble finding a position in Labor and Delivery. I have had previous experience in an OB/GYN office and took a doula training course. What else can I do to help me find a job in L&D without having to go to a med-surg floor first? My heart and soul is in helping the laboring woman.

call the hospitals that you are interested in working at and ask to speak to the nurse recruiter. more than likley they may or may not be available but still get the contact name and number and leave a message. send in your resume and cover letter. depending on where you live it may be hard to get into l&d but calling directly will give you an answer quicker. also be willing to work any shift just to get your foot in the door. it will happen sooner than you think. good luck :)

I have tried that and no recruiters have called me back. I think because that I am looking out of state that that they are not interested.

Try looking out of state. Texas is hiring nurses, period. Just be careful what you walk into.

I see you are in PA. When I was in PA last summer, I saw tons of billboards and commercials for nurses. I can't believe you are having a hard time finding a job?
