Oklahoma LPN's in L&D

Does anyone know if Oklahoma prohibits LPN's from laboring or is that a hospital based policy? We have always had LPN's who labored our patients under the supervision of RN but with lst CNO, the policy ws changed. We do not have enough RN's to cover the unit and are having to use travelers...We have LPN's who have taken all the courses and have experience laboring but can't use them....

Just curious!

I used to live and work in Western OK and where I was, LPN did not care for L/D patients as a rule. And like you said, if they did, the RN had to supervise/sign off on charts. Usually, the LPN cared for the pp moms and babies, not laboring moms.
