Newborn assessment resource needed, Help!

Hello!

Does anyone know of a link to a professional journal that I could use as a resource for a Newborn Assessment paper?

I have looked all over the internet and I am at a loss to find anything that would be relevant to a newborn assessment. For the paper we need 3 resources, one of which has to a professional journal article about a newborn assessment.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Edited to add: The article has to have been published in the last 5 years.

I have a resource for the Ballard Newborn Assessment that was provided to me by my instructor. I would be glad to forward it to you as an attachment, if you would send me you email address.

Specializes in Maternal - Child Health.

Have you looked into MCN, The Journal of Maternal-Child Nursing, Neonatal Network (which is published by the Academy of Neonatal Nurses), or Journal of Obstetric, Gynecologic and Neonatal Nursing, published by AWHONN?

Specializes in L&D,- Mother/Baby.

Try this. At least it's a start.

Thanks for your reply!

I tried the MCN archives but you have to pay to see the content of the articles and I have not found a title that matched up with what I am looking for. We can only go back 5 years from publication date.

I will try the Journal of Obstetric, Gynecologic and Neonatal Nursing!:wink2:

Thanks! This has a lot of good information but I forgot to say that it has to have been published within the last 5 years.

Thanks for your time in looking this up for me. I am going to use it as my own reference!:wink2:

This isn't from a professional journal, but from a continuing education site. It may be helpful.

VICKYRN that site you suggested Maternal-Newborn & Child Nursing is an excellent resource site. Even after 13 years in L&D, this site is so informative and useful. I'm getting ready to take my RNC and am so glad I came across this. Thanks a bunch! :paw:

See if the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners has a journal,

also ck for The Journal of Perinatal & Neonatal Nursing, Society of Pediatric Nurses, Journal for Specialists in Pediatric Nursing , Neonatal Network the Journal of Neonatal Nursing, Journal of Midwifery & Women's Health; also Pediatrics is the journal of the AAP (but we weren't allowed to use medical journals in school, I don't know if you are or not).

You don't get any hits in your school's database when you search by newborn assessment and limit it to nursing journals? Can anyone at your library help you? (we had a librarian who was just for the health professions student who could help us) Also, your textbook probably lists its references for its newborn assessment info and maybe you could work from there! Good luck!
