I've been out of nursing for 10 year now a hospital in PR is offering me a new job as RN in their L & D facility. I have RN experience in M/S, Oncology,and some in Peds, Do you guys think I will be alright at L&D since I have none experience there? Any recommendations,pls? Thanks in advance!

Jun 5, '08 by rnheartHI, Labor and delivery is a different beast. It is generally fast paced with periods of down time. You definitely have common sense from your previous experiences some of the best labor and delivery nurses I know came from other back grounds. I did L&d first then tried to do med/surg and it was a nightmare needless to say I came back to L&D. Give it a shot You might really love it.BORI-BSNRN likes this. - Guide

You bet that was the very first question that I asked if they have a training program and they told me that they will give me an extensive training AND THAT THEY ARE WILLING TO HELP ME EVEN THE SUPERVISOR and answer all my q's.
