interview today...only went ok

So I had an interview today for a position in the MBU at the hospital I currently work at and I'm a little discouraged. It went ok. I don't feel like I knocked it out of the park but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. It was a group interview, there were 5 floor nurses, the nurse educator, and the manager (who I have already interviewed with in the past). I'm really hoping to get into the family center, I can't handle working med/surg much longer, burn out in less than 3 years is just wrong.

I don't have any questions or anything, just wanted to vent a little (hubby doesn't get it). This is the first group interview I've done that's been more than 2-3 people and it was not comfortable. Hoping to hear good news soon (manager told me they plan to make a decision by end of the week). Thanks for listening

Good luck to you; hopefully it all works out. I've never been in a group interview ... is it something that's done internally?

I hear you on the hubby front, good luck being sent your way :)

Good luck! FWIW, every interview where I felt I totally nailed it, I didn't get the job. Every time I've gotten a job offer, I had walked away from the interview feeling like I definitely could have done better.

I have also gotten job offers after less than stellar interviews, and not gotten offers after thinking I had done really well. You can't always tell -- will keep my fingers crossed for you!

Hope they'll pick you! That's a tough interview having sooo many interviewers. I will be having my interview in about 10 days, attempting to transfer from med-surg to ER. I wonder if I'll have as many interviewers as you

Thanks for the support! I'll let you know when I hear.

Tyvin - I've had other interviews at different hospitals that did the group thing but this was way more people than what I've been through, it's usually just 2-3 people.

#1ME - Good luck!!

FWIW, my observation on the hiring process recently is this: our managers ultimately hire the person that is the "best fit" with our current staff. It seems to me that someone could be the best nurse ever, but if they don't think the applicant will fit in, they will keep looking. Not sure how I feel about this- the last person they hired IS a great nurse with a great personality and does fit in well. It just kind of bothers me that a sparkling personality is the deciding factor. I have worked on my unit for a long time and sometimes wonder if I would be hired today as I am rather quiet, but a good nurse and hard worker.

Good luck to you! I also interviewed as an internal applicant for L&D. I can't say that I was completely prepared for it but I am keeping my fingers crossed. I currently work in med-surg and I can no longer stomach it. It took me less than 2 years to burn out. Again, best of luck!
