Ideas for retirement careers in OB/GYN

by bagel

Hi,
Does anyone have any suggestions for an OB/GYN, Nursery, Lactation nurse who wants to step away from 8-12 hour shifts in the hospital and still earn a living. I don't want to teach or manage.
Thanks,
Stephanie

Have you considered public health clinics? A lot of them host well baby clinics or do follow up care for new moms.

Maybe you could be a lactation consultant only? Get a website and talk to OB/midwife practices about referrals? Maybe a hospital who doesn't have their own LC on staff would hire you on a part time basis? GL!

How about teaching pre-natal and breastfeeding classes or clinic nursing. The idea about Public Health Nursing was a wonderful idea. We do alot of referals to PHN for our moms, esp primes and breastfeeding moms.

If you live in/near a large metro area you may want to look into home health care for high risk pregnancies. I've only seen this in large metro areas as they need the numbers to make it worthwhile for the home health agencies.
