How to become Marternity Nurse...

I will be starting my prereqs at a community college fall of 2010. In the long run I want to become a maternity nurse, what steps do I need to take to get there? I am paying out of pocket so I'm looking for the cheapest possible way, while achieving the best education I can get. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
