Help! Want to get back into the field!!

What exactly have you done to gain re-entry to the field? Just curious. Hard to help here w/o specifics. Good luck.

I don't think that you should have too much trouble getting back into OB. I am starting back in the NICU in a few weeks and I have been out of the NICU for the last 2 years, but I did have 2 and a half years of prior experience. With the nursing shortage the hospitals should be willing to work with you. Maybe you can get into an internship program or maybe they will just give you an extended orientation on the floor with an experienced nurse. GOOD LUCK!!

I just posted on another thread about my 5 year absence from OB. The hospital where I currently work (not nursing) wants me to spend my own money to take a refresher course and commit with them to med/surg. I went to a hospital that I prevously worked in postpartum and they offered me a position! The manager said she was confident with my OB experience in the past. She said that out of all of the applicants she had for the positions, I was the only one with actual OB experience. She even thanked me for applying for the position! Don't give up.
