Delivery tables

Well, when I worked L&D 9 years ago, we set our table up in the LDR and we covered them until the doctor got there for delivery. We usually set them up when the patient was close to complete if a primigravida, or earlier if the patient was a multigravida. Hope this helps.

We set them up in our LDRP, usually close to the time the woman will be delivered. They should be set up using sterile gloves, tho some of our nurses wear gowns, masks, hair covers, etc. Really all that is needed is sterile gloves.

They are then covered and a notation put on them as to the date and time of set-up. They are "good" for 24 hours.

Our techs set up our delivery tables in the OR (they gown/mask/sterile glove to do so), and then cover them with a cover that is included in the pre-packaged vag del kit. The tables are then kept in our sterile supply room until we need them. Once in my room, I keep my table covered until the MD is at bedside for delivery.

This is what we do as well. We roll-em out into the hall and then set them up, then roll-em back in the room when needed. (We have very small LDR rooms).

The scrub tech (or nurse scrub) sets them up in the OR, they remain there, covered, until needed.

as a doula(hospital only, no homes) and RN student, I have only seen the break away L/D beds...I didn't know there were separate delivery tables. Are they like the beds? Are they flat? Do you transfer mom to that table just for delivery? Interesting.

With the beds, when the mom is getting close they just pop out the end of the bed and attach a bio bag underneath. There are pop-up stirups and handles for mom. Pretty simple. After everything is done, the bed goes back together and mom stays for a couple of hours til time for PP.
