I recently found out I have a bicornuate uterus and 1 kidney. Haven't been able to conceive in 5yrs......my question to the OB nurses, can you share experiences in the topic with similar pts?

By the way, I was 17 ounces at birth-mom took DES (My Dr. claims this is probably why).

I had never heard of this before and want to hear about any experiences with such anomality.

Thanks in advance.

I do have a similar shaped uterus. They found it on my first u/s with my stillborn son. I went on to have 2 l/c.

It is from the DES. There is an awesome website somewhere for the "Daughters of DES". You may want to have them check out your cervix too.

I'm researching as I type.......thanks for sharing your experience and sorry about your precious son. I've never been pregnant myself. I'm not sure about clomid either.......I'm just so confused (should be sleeping now as I have to work tonight).

Jessy, I hope you are able to find the help you are seeking. The website provided above sounds like it should offer some of that as well as the support of others who are experiencing simiiar difficulties.

Here's a hug, Jess. (((hug))) :icon_hug:

While I don't have the exact same problem as you, I am experiencing reproductive issues of my own. I have an enlarged fibroid uterus that, according to a pelvic MRI, is compressing my bladder and rectum. In addition, my lady parts is shallow, which causes intercourse to be uncomfortable for me. I have also not been able to conceive.

I am not looking for medical advice-just wanna know more about the subject and hear of actual experiences with those with the same anomality. I like real human interaction to go with what I read.

Commuter, I will say a prayer for you. Although I am bummed at the moment, in my heart, know all will be fine at the end.

Thank you for sharing and God bless. If ya ever wanna talk.............PM me ;)

I've had several women in my practice with this, Jess, who became pregnant.

Just be sure to stay under the care of your HCP.

Lots of support and (((((HUGS)))) for you, hon.

That is awesome. So happy to learn there is hope

DD has this. I took no drugs at all during pregnancy or nursing... but am interested in any information.

It is actually very common.

I have it. My sister had a dbl uterus (and kidney issues). Our mother never took DES while preg with any of us. We went to genetics Dr (for a issue on my oldest son) and asked them about it. They told us that for 2 siblings of the same mother (who wasn't given DES) to have very similar uterus issues was rare but, they could never provide us an answer to why we both have it.

The only thing i suggest to anyone who has any sort of uterus abnormality, get your kidneys checked too. The uterus and kidneys form around the same time so problems with both can go hand and hand.

Jessy: Thank You.

A friend of mine at work has a bicornuate uterus and has two kids.

Best of luck to you, Jessy. :)

I have a personal friend that has a bicornate uterus, she is almost 50 and did not know until she had her first son who is now 26ish... It took her a long time to get pregnant with him and then a long time to get pregnant again, she had a miscarriage and thought that she was done "trying" as it was just so devastating. But come to find out she actually had been pregnant with two, probably one in each uterus as she has told me... and she delivered a another full term healthy baby girl this time.
