Any suggestions on a good resignation letter

  1. I just resigned from my L and D job today. It was a forced resignation. Pretty much either quit or we we'll fire you. I was on orientation and my preceptor and I just didn't click. She would tell me I was doing well to my face and then tell the boss a different story. I was told I had a bad attitude and was defensive.
    I have never had a negative review from any job. I need to write a letter of resignation, I don't what to say. It came down to I missed a few days of being sick and that was their "reason for dismissal". The head of the department said she would give me a good reference, can I believe her?

    They can't give you a Bad reference,because now you can sue them for it.I can't wait to tell my Boss-C-Ya!!!!They can either give a Good Refrence or say yes She worked here,but now She does'nt.They can't say Why though...Only In America

    Keep your chin up, and start sending your resume out, the sooner you get into a healthier work environment the better.

    I know this hurts, but a couple things to think about - - -

    First, if they are this way from the start consider yourself lucky that you aren't having to put up with them anymore! People like that can make any job a hell on earth!

    Second - there is plenty of opportunity elsewhere for you out there - The next one could be that perfect place you need to be!

    Well my resignation with the hospital was just a few sentences...
    This is to inform you of my resignation which will become effective (insert date 2 weeks from when you are giving the resignation).

    This is all you really need to write - to write more especially abotu the way you feel you have been treated may not get you anywhere and might be used against you.

    I agree with the others - if this sort of bullying was occuring during your orientation then it is a good thing that you are leaving especially after such a short time. Geting your next job will be a little harder but push on and you will find in time that this will merely be a blip in the road of your career.

    It probably wouldn't be worth the time and effort for a fancy or even plain barbed retort. I'd just keep it short and sweet, not unlike Paul Simon, there must be 50 ways...
    Too bad if you really wanted to learn L&D, maybe you'll get the chance in a more friendly environment.

    Mu apologies 'Cometothecradle". WendyM's resignation letter would be a perfect one to use. I am sorry to hear of your predicament. You probably don't want to hear this but it might be best thing for you - sounds like crappy place to work anyway. You'll be fine - good luck...

    Most employers will answer requests for a reference by simply giving your dates of employment. Sometimes they will state whether or not you are eligible for rehire. There is not, however, any law against giving a bad reference. Most employers don't, even to former employees who deserve one. Some do, even to former employess who DON'T deverse one. But if you think you are going to sue over a bad reference, you'd better be able to prove that you were damaged in a big way if you want to convince a lawyer to take your case. Litigation is a very expensive proposition these days, and fewer and fewer lawyers are willing to take cases on a contingency basis. Most set an hourly fee. If you want to go down THAT road, you'd better have a big bag of money to take with you.
