I am a new grad and I FINALLY got a job that is permanent and will not be rescinded like my last one! I am very excited, it will be in postpartum, but I only had 1 day in my clinical rotations in postpartum. This is
NOT couplet care, I will be the nurse for the mom- there are separate nurses for the babies. I was told I may need to help w/ the baby if the nursery nurse is busy or if I have time, but they really want me only for the mom (i REALLY wanted to take care of both) .Anyways, from my experience in clinical , I loved all of the teaching I was able to provide and my experience overall. Most of my classmates hated that rotation and said they were bored - In my experience, I sought out opportunities and felt I was able to do thorough assessments and alot of teaching. I really did like it and think it would be a good stepping stone to L&D, nursery or even NICU.
I was hoping someone can give me a typical day in that department? I know what my experience was, but I would like to know what other nurses think..
(I posted this message in the general discussion and was advised to re-post here)
