sadly, i have only had one infant named for me, although i have personally delivered a total of 8 babies....even though i try to break the ice by informing people if they are having a girl it is the house rule to name the baby after their labor nurse:) ( no one has ever fallen for that, by the way). one night i received a pt well known to me, who, though likeable, was totally high on coke. she barely got to the stretcher and i had to deliver the baby. i remember telling her she had promised me she was going to clean up her act and now what had she put me through. she gave me a hug and decided right then to name her drug baby after me.....there are no words......

I had a patient declare she was going to name the baby "epidural" two weeks ago, call it epi for short. The anesthesiologist insisted the child would be tormented less at school if she named the baby after him...we all had a good laugh.

I don't have any babies named after me, but I have been the one to settle many a name debate between mom & dad :)

I've not had a baby named after me by a patient, but would my granddaughter -- Daysia Renee -- count? Out of eleven grandchildren, she is the only one with my first name as her middle name, and Gramma's darn proud and humbled at the same time! Everyone says she looks more like me each day. She's one years old now!

I work on Med/surg so dont have any pt's babys names after me, but my friend named her new baby after me and used my maiden name Delany. She was born premature and had a few days that were touch and go. But she is doing fine now and is a happy 8 week old baby. I'm still getting use to people saying her name, but It's a special tribute to a friendship. My daughter also has the middle name of another friend (friends for 29 years) and so does her daughter.

My niece has *Jane* for her middle name (this is the niece that wants to be a nurse) and my youngest daughter has *Anne* for a middle name so I sort of have them named for me.

liked my name so well that, when she had her first child, a daughter, she named her Kathy. For some reason, she preferred the "K" spelling to the way I spell my name.

I assisted with a birth in a restaurant, before doing my nursing.

Hi Cathy, :)
Speaking of teachers naming their children after students....
I had a fourth grade teacher named Mrs. Motley who named one of her children after me (Renee). :) Mrs. Motley was one of my favorite teachers in school, and I was always tagged as "the teacher's pet" by a few of my classmates.

Does half of a name count? When I was a student nurse in L&D, one pt sorta named her baby after me only it was a boy. So instead of Mich/ele, she named him Mich/ael. Better than nothing I guess.

I wasn't the nurse (my mom was) when the family gave the baby my nickname for a middle name.
