*Also in Gen. Nursing thread* Distance learning for CNM

Specialties Ob/Gyn

Published

Do you all have any opinions on it? I am currently pursuing a ADN, and would like to get my BSN online while working *hopefully* as an OB-GYN nurse. I was wondering how you all felt about becoming a Certified Nurse Midwife online. I have found a few accredited online programs, and thought it might be an interesting alternative seeing as there are no CNM programs offered in my area. Thanks in advance

I completed a Community Based Program and it was GREAT! If you would like the info on it just let me know. They have a website that is very organized and thorough. I would definitely recommend it.

I am not the person you were writing to but I am interested in distance CNM program info, particularly on your program since you are so happy with it. :p [email protected]

I have looked at some program websites before. How did you arrange your preceptors? Did they have connections in your area or did you have to take the initiative on that front? How often do you have to travel to the school? I will probably need a truly distance program.

The CNEP program is very good. We have had a couple of CNM's from there and several students over the years. Distnace learning is great but you still have to complete a lot of hands on.
