Great, I am glad I could provide some information to help you. I will be attending on the 9th as well, so good luck and welcome to Adelphi.

Hi, MelitaRN. I just got a phone call from the academic service office by which they remind me to attend the transfer registration event on Monday. However I asked if there is any academic adviser for Nursing students, she said she needs to ask the nursing department for more details and will give me a call before the event. I'll let you know once I find out.
Btw, are you able to call the nursing department to request an individual advisment for registration? I called, but always got forwarded to voice mail machine. I left a voice message and I got a call back from them one week later. They gave a email to contact the director of ASCEND Program. I emailed to schedule an appointment with the consoler a little bit more than one week ago, so far I haven't heard of anything back from the consoler. Unbelievable......

Hey Milkberry,

I too received a voicemail reminding me about Monday's registration event for transfer students. I was under the impression that they would offer advisement there, so I have not called to inquire about it. I received a preliminary evaluation of my credits with my welcome packet, however, the documentation I received stated that a final evaluation would be conducted once I confirmed my acceptance. Once my credit transfer is established, I will then know what courses remain outstanding. It makes sense that they would do it on Monday, but it could be wishful thinking on my part.

I am planning on attending since this is the only opportunity (per the voicemail) where the tuition deposit will be waived. That's $250 towards Christmas shopping .

Question: Did you receive any information on their financial aid package? I will call to see what the status of that is since Monday is supposed to be registration day. I'd like to know what the financial aid package will look like prior to registering for classes.

Thanks for the update. I will keep you posted on my findings as well.

Hi, MelitaRN, so far i haven't got any call back from the admission about the availability of Nursing advisement on next Monday. However, i think they are responsible for the arrangement of our advisement. We'll see.

What time will you be there on Monday? I hope I could see you at that time.

Do you mind we contact each other on Monday by phone? I really think we are on the same boat.

Hey Milkberry,

I do believe they will advise us there. The e-mail they sent me with the invitation indicates that advisement will be available in addition to the registration of classes. It would be silly not to have advisement for new students since we are not sure what courses to register for and what pre-requisites attach to each course.

I am planning to be there by 2pm, which is when the event starts. Send me an e-mail at melita0803@yahoo.com and we can coordinate to meet there. I am coming from Queens and am a few stops from the LIRR station where I will take the train to the campus (no car yet).

Take care.

Hello,

How did the transfer registration day go for everyone?
I was able to sit down with an advisor and she helped me register for classes. I will be taking chem 109, N 255 and N 275. I'm not looking forward to the 5 credit chem 109 at all. Will anyone else be taking this class in the spring? Day or night?

Hello,

I attended the transfer registration yesterday and it went well, except the RN to BSN ASCEND program is held primarily on Wednesdays. For me it doesn't work at this time since I have a regular M-F 9-5pm job. I am only able to take one course that is given on Sundays until I can get a nursing job with flex shifts. My current employer is not nursing related and doesn't know about my additional schooling.

What's terrible is that I only need 9 classes to get the BSN degree (second Bachelor's degree student) and three of the classes are on campus. Two courses take up all morning and afternoon on Wednesdays and one on Sunday (the only one I could get). Had I been able to take all three courses next semester on a Sunday, it would have been the only semester where I'd be on campus all the time. The remaining 6 courses are offered online and then that would complete my graduation requirements. Since I transferred in 90 credits, Chem and Statistics are included in those courses they accepted.

Otherwise, the staff was very friendly and eager to assist with questions and concerns. It was my first time visiting the campus and I must say it's quite beautiful. The LIRR was a few blocks away and very easy to get to from where I live in Queens.

I wish you and all new Adelphi students the best of luck. I have to complete my registration soon since my nursing license expires at the end of January. NOTE: In order to register for upper level nursing courses (for RN's only), the nursing license must be active for the duration of the semester, otherwise, registration is held up until you can produce a renewed license.

Thanks!
