Well since I am only one semester ahead of you I can only share what I have experienced, financial aid is of coarse grants(free money)but the majority will be loans since SVCMC is more expensive than C.U.N.Y. I dont know of anyone in my class that recieved scholarships or grants for that matter(the majority had all there prereq's and were working full or parttime) I do know that the books and uniforms were out of pocket expense becuase no one in the class recieved there loan disbursmentS for the first couple of months(around 100-200 bucks).
you must remain bcls certified through out your clinical experience. the school will arrange for the first one about a week before official class start. As I said the EMS institute along with the PA school is on campus so that CPR class is givin at the school.
The only other thing is, be prepared to study your bottom off. the information will come and go so fast, you will feel overwhelmed about how much info youre asked to assimilate. the next class is always another topic rarely do the instructors go back on to old info and there is always a quiz or exam coming. since you have no prereq's it will be 10 times harder becuase you have 2 xtra classes this semester that others might not have. Clinical for the first semester is mainly A.M care and babysitting you may give meds you may not.you will be tuaght care plans and three are graded.BUT MAKE NO DOUBT IT IS DO ABLE........you will meet the classes ahead of you on your orientation, along with the seniors and freshmans(my class is still considered freshman until second year). They will offer there help( looking tired and strung out as can be),support is there.....

Hi everyone, I'm entering the Fall program. I was told we would get a packet with info in early June, but I haven't gotten anything yet. I was told you need "basic" BLS certification so I signed up for a BLS class through BOCES/Wilson Tech for this Saturday. $75, 5 hour class and you get an American Heart Association card valid for 2 years. Good luck!

For those of you who are waiting for orientation packets like me, I just got an e-mail that said they were sent out today so we should get them in the mail within the next few days.

the website is worthless it has no info your best bet is to call the school for any info..the school will be changing its name, location and clinical sites soon, it will no longer be catholic medical center. my class was official the last cmc admitted class....

Yeah I e-mailed the school asking about info for the incoming class and that's what she told me, but we won't get our book list and schedule until a later date. I will be a day student (which was probably a bad decision in hindsight because I'm not much of a morning person but I'll get over it). How about you?
