Looking for a free or low cost lpn program to start in summer or fall

Looking for a free or low cost lpn program to start in summer or fall


I am wondering if anyone knows of any hospitals on Long Island in NY that are offering free or reduced cost LPN programs? I saw one hospital and believe they said they would train you to become a CNA first and then after some time they would train for an LPN but I am looking for different options. I don't want to go to Boces or VEEB or anywhere where tuition is 10k or higher. I looked into suffolk comm college but it is past the application deadlines for summer or fall of 2009 and I don't want to wait a year to start the program and another year to finish. I don't really want to do the CNA training unless I can't find an LPN course to get into quickly...Does anyone know of or has taken an LPN certificate or associates program on Long Island ?

What happened with your search..

I wouldnt mind waiting but i am lookin for something a little lower in cost the boces or veeb.

I applied to SUNY Farmingdale and got in there tuition is way lower than boces or veeb...under 4k for the year I believe!

plzz plzz plzz DO TELL.. how was the process was it long & tough?? did you study for the entrace exam?? Did your classes start yet??

You have to apply and take the pax-lpn test....They have one more testing date this month and the program starts in January. You need to do well on the exam which is basic reading, math and a little of each of the sciences physics, bio and chemistry. I also applied to suffok but they are taking forever to respond and I don't know where on the island you are but their program is way out in riverhead and when I called to find out the status of my application I was told they look at pple taking prereqs at suffolk first and they don't let people know till late january which was a waste of my time...try farmingdale...

okay cool im gonna go get the book to study from!! I just graduated from a cna class at boces in northport on friday im soo ready to start lpn.. both my teachers from boces said I could you them as references.. thanks alot anniemichellena.

so i should go on monday and do the application and then they will tell me abut the pax-lpn test or do i do that first??

Farmingdale is not even 10 mins away from!!

One last question when does the next class start if i dont do well on the test??

lucky for you there is one starting this fall it is called CNETNURSES, this is the lowest cost lpn program out there it cost exactly $2,300. but your application must be received by january 2010. to fill and application you must pay a $35 application fee. This fee holds your spot to take an entrance exam to be qualified for the program. the program only excepts those that score at least in the 40th percentile of the group that you will be examining with. in other words it is like a SAT and you score and entrance is dependant on how well you did along side all other fellow test takers for that session.
