Re: Info on N.Y. BSN programs?
Another part of this site lists nursing schools in NYC/NYS, including BSN programs.
Off the top of my head can only name several four year BSN programs in NYC:
Hunter College (CUNY)
Long Island University
Adelphi (sp?)
There might be one or two more, my mind draws a blank at the moment
For the most part ADN programs vastly out number BSN programs in NYC.
BSN nursing programs are like any other nursing school. Certain pre-reqs must be completed with a certain GPA, and most schools also require a certain precentage of courses or time at the college before applying for the nursing program. Hunter College for instance requires students to have been fully admitted to the college for one or two semesters (my mind draws blanks) before applying.
If you are really considering transferring, start looking at local schools and contacting them for information. If possible try to speak with someone in the nursing department to get an idea of requirements and what if anything you have already taken will transfer over. It may also be wise (again if you are really serious), to start taking the science, math and core courses most all nursing programs require, both two and four year.
