Help!! - I need your advice

I would like for everyone to suggest to me what they would do in my situation...

I am currently taking my pre-reqs at a city college in nyc. It offers a nursing program but with all of the competition and ridiculous "mandatory 4.0" you must get in order to maybe get into the program, I just figured I'd take my pre-reqs there and once it's time to take actual nursing courses to apply to a private college.

However, I'm now having 2nd thoughts and thinking about how the city college would be way cheaper and much more manageable financially. I'm wondering "what if I can actually get in to the city college (which is WAY cheaper) nursing program. - Unfortunately they require a math course which I'm absolutely horrible at. I don't think I've ever got over a 65 or C in any Math course in my life.

Keep in mind if I take math and fail or just barely pass this ruins my gpa and possibly chances for me to apply to private schools - which I know for a fact in my area don't even require math. Also, we all know about ridiculous waitlists and sometimes the students with 4.0's don't get in because of so many applicants.

Should I take their requirement in Math and see if my grade in it is good enough to apply to their program? Should I wait to see with my gpa for the pre-reqs look like before I even take "their required math"?

What would you do?

-Your suggestions and comments are appreciated.

I currently have a Bachelor's in another discipline and am going for my ASN (cheaper, figured I'll get employed and wait for the hospital to pay for BSN)

Did you consider Accelerated Programs at all?
There is not much math involved and you probably have aalready taken most of the pre-reqs during your first bachelors!

are they going to consider the math grade? Or as long as you get above a C you are fine? I know the program I applied to only considered the GPA in specific classes...

They do consider the math grade it's required. It's part of they're pre-reqs to get into their problem. From what I hear you basically have to get all A's in your pre-reqs in order to get into the program. I've heard of some getting in on 3.4 but that was a few years ago and the requirement is much higher given all of the competition. I just don't want to just get a C and have waisted my time because I know I probably won't be able to get in with a C in any of the pre-reqs.

I've figured out a solution: I will take the pre-reqs that most nursing programs req: A&P1,2 and Psych Dev. Once I receive my grades in those classes then I will determine whether or not it's "worth" taking the math class needed for the city community college. By then I'll have an overall idea of what my gpa will look like. Besides I know that most of the cc place an their overall decisions based on your science grades.

Thanks again everyone.
