Re: Cochran School of Nursing
HI...I applied to Cochran for Spring '09 but at that time I was still taking my A&P 2 (yes, A&P 1 and 2 are pre reqs)...Took the TEAS (no Science at that time yet). You get your TEAS exam grade right away and that's when they decide if they can set you up for your interview date, but since I didnt have my A&P 2 grade yet, I was asked to get a letter from my professor which I did and mailed to the school. For some reason they never got it and I just gave up on Cochran altogether. At the same time I was accepted by St. Vincents for Fall '09. As I was waiting for my requirements and everything from St. Vincents, I got letters from Cochran asking for my A&P 2 grade, I thought why not send my new transcript, so I did, not really thinking why. I also got letters stating I need to take the Science part for consideration for the Fall program. I ignored it. Got another letter stating since I applied when Science wasn't required I didn't have to take it. Ignored it. Got a call from the registrar wanting to set me up for an interview. Thought about it and told myself to go to the interview just to see what is available. At that time I was panicking cause summer was almost over and I do not know what my schedule at St. Vincent's would be, I needed to work at least 36 hrs a week to support my school expenses and my 4 yr daughter.
I came for my interview, everyone was so nice and accomodating, spoke to the Dean. She explained everything and asked me which program I am interested in. I said I am leaning towards the Saturday program and she explained how it would go. Asked me if I would be interested to take Online Math Dosage that summer as part of the pilot class. I said I am interested and told me that she wants me for the school and told me I should expect my acceptance packet that week. I went home still undecided since I already sent my reservation to St. Vincents. I got everything that week. We started class Aug 29 =)
Saturdays was great for me. We have lecture on Saturdays from 9 am til about 1pm and clinicals Mon and tue nights from 5:30 to 11pm. I loved Cochran and I'm so glad I made the decision to go there instead. I work in the mornings and go to class after on clinical days and every school day I am so excited to go to class.
If you have any questions about Cochran feel free to PM me. Good luck and hope to see you next semester =)
