I have to find out the names of the other agencies my hospital uses (I work for HHC) and I'll post them. Sometimes, it is better to see the conditions before you are totally working for them because HHC hospitals are not for the faint of heart! I am not saying that you, personally could not handle it, but, see for yourself. Plus, there is a freeze on HHC positions (so they say), so, unless you know someone, it may take awhile.

In the past many agency PCAs and nurses eventually got hired at my place, and it seems that they bring them in by the droves!

Yeah thats true "Pagandeva2000"...i also work for HHC and i know that ish happens...Many HHC employees got hired as Staff thru Temp agencies....Being that there is a freeze anyone interested should rather i encourage apply Yes but dont X out any agencies because that could only open that door that seems soo forever shut.

At this moment, there are MANY agency employees--a few months ago, before the actual freeze, many PCAs were picked up at my hospital. Now, they aren't, but they are still working full time schedules. Sometimes, that is an advantage because you get to see the place before you commit.

Were you guys able to find the contact info for some agencies I went online and was trying to research some of them on this end, but couldn't find anything.
Any luck or time on your end.

Total Health, Criticare, Gotham, All Care (I think that is the name) to name a few. I didn't get a chance to get to the supervisor's office to get the names of the other ones (think there are two more) that can be considered. I didn't forget...it was just a bad day in the neighborhood...

Yes, Dionyonce & Pagandeva2000

I wanted to tell both of you guys thanks, I do realize u are giving me advice on how I could possible get in, I really do appreaciate it. Again thanks, I will give these guys a try and if I come across any others I will give them a try as well. I did not even stop to think that agencies was still looking for people now with all the hiring freezes, so this is actual good advice.

Thanks

There is a such thing as PNA's here in Texas... They are Psychiatric Nurses Assistants and work primarily in our state hospitals. I live within 45 minutes of 2 state hospitals... One is an open campus for mentally ill patients, mostly geriatrics and mentally retarded folks... the other is a maximum security forensic hospital. It contains people who committed a criminal act and were deemed mentally insane.

There are also two different educational programs for CNAs and PNAs.
