What should a Filipino nurse bring to the UK?

World UK

Published

Hello fellow nurses! I hope you are all doing well!

So, I am looking to be working in the UK this coming March or April (just received my Decision Letter DL to take OSCE) and I'm now starting to prepare.

Just a little background of myself. I am a nurse here in the Philippines. I took the IELTS on October 2017, passed the CBT the following month, and just received the DL.

So aside from the knowledge that I had to take with me in order to pass the OSCE, what else should I prepare myself for? I would really love to hear suggestions on what to bring such as clothes (what types of clothing, etc), gadgets maybe, even foods, and what not.

I am so excited and very hopeful that my life in the UK would be as awesome as I think it would be. :D

Thank you.

PS. By the way, I'm a male nurse. :D

Specializes in Emergency Department.

Not sure what you are looking for here.

Clothing; it's cold here at present, in April it can still be cold but it is also spring (In Scotland we can get snow in April). Your winters are roughly the same as our summers. Check temperatures where you are going.

Gadgets; check the power usage for your gadgets. We use 240V AC. Can your stuff work on that?

Food; we are not a third world country, you should be able to get anything you need here. You may need to find a specialist supermarket and unless you are in a very small town that should not be a problem.

Good Luck.

There will be custom rules on what foods you can bring into the country. Most supermarkets will have everything you want plus as mentioned a lot of the bigger towns may have more specialized shops for certain spices.
