My life is very good too, it took me a lot longer to settle down life wasn't easy as first and I am strange I actually love my own country, my friends and my culture.

I had a dream to return to the US a place where I had spent some of my childhood and a place where some of my family lived.

Now I am firmly settled and have made some fantastic friends, am happy to live here for the rest of my life.

I am not financially better off in fact to be truthful poorer than we were in the UK. I miss with a passion vacation time, I begrudge the amount we pay for a Dr's visit. But where I live is so beautiful and life is so good for my 7 yr old. I miss my son who decided to return to the UK.

My life is not a holiday it is real life.

Hiya everyone.

Congrats Liverpool Jane on passing your exam. Sorry to hear about your dad.

I really miss chat on Tuesdays. Maybe we should start an on-line protest to get chat back?

Thank you everyone for all your kind words - dad looks as well as can be expected under the circumstances. His mood is bouyant again and his pain and nausea under control, I can't ask for anything more.

Hey Billie Shears - we seem to be doing ok without Gareth don't we??

Yes the exam was a bit scary and you may be impressed but I am stunned, I keep checking the PV & Vermonts site as I am convinced my name will be taken off when someone realises the mistake.

Canada looks fantastic SD and in this weeks RCN bulletin there is an item on working in Canada, explaining how UK nurses are being fast tracked. I can't help thinking that there will be a stampead to other countries Canada, Australia and NZ by people who were considering the US and then the wait won't be so long for us intent on the US - or is that just wishful thinking?

Anyhoo - I have just finished packing my suitcase as I am off to on a weeks hols - somewhere a bit warmer than here I hope, but not really bothered if it wasn't as I will be content with not being in work.

Bye for now

Well weather slowly turning and just had some bad new regarding our wood furnace well more to do with chimney and now looking at alternatives, money spending again :( have to get something sorted before the really cold weather turns in Jan.

Hunting has started and had a couple of hunters cross our land without asking permission, now have signs everywhere telling them to get lost. Must have seen a couple hundred geese fly over plus a couple of large flocks of ducks, never seen ducks gather in large flocks like this but fun watching them fly.

I think this thread is a great idea. I try to keep up with everyone's journals but of late have been working so many extra hours due to the state of the department and short-staffing so have been AWOL a lot!

I am hoping to get to the USA again this year as I have been invited to participate in a conference in Anaheim CA in the summer of 2009. Hope that comes off - am really looking forward to it.

I've no plans to work in the USA - I love my UK job, but I'm definitely falling for the USA ...

Hi guys, sorry I havent introduced myself yet. How rude! (Just found this wee sticky post.)

Im Pamela and live in sunny Glasgow, and hoping to immigrate to America. Long wait I know, but fully committed. Live with hubby and 2 kids. And currently working in medical admissions. Which I love.

Will probably copy Jane and work to improve myself while waiting for America. Working night shift tonight then off for Christmas.

Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas x x x

Oh My Gosh I can't believe I didn't see this post before ..great to hear from everyone, I miss the weekly chat.

Hope everyone who celebrates Christmas had a lovely time:tree:

Quick catch up from my corner: did my NCLEX in Aug- passed 1st time @75 Q's in 45 mins :D

Not so good news- my job in AZ is no longer available because of a hiring freeze so I am currently approaching agencies as I think that is the only way forward in the current climate, bit down :( as wanted to go it alone but after visiting hospitals on my recent trip realised that isn't going to happen right now. I am still jumping through hoops for emigration and have just secured a job back in the good old NHS on a gynae ward as working in a 39 bedded private hospital seems to continuously get a cold response in the international job hunting arena, just as well I left the community! I am getting nowhere fast at the moment which is sooo frustrating, my eldest turned 18 last week so the clock is ticking!

Hi AZ hopeful congratulations on passing the NCLEX it is not an easy test is it? Yep there is a job freeze but things will settle and pass as they always do.

lo all

only seem this post now. Having qualifed and being a SN the nhs nows owes me oddles of lieu time that i'll never see and i don;'t have broadban anymore so surfing allnurses has been harder to do at times.

I was warned at how hard it would be but as serious as i took the warnings thje experince is worse. Being called to do 50 things at once(ok a bit of an exargeration) my ward manager think my time managment and priotizaion are at times poor and risky and unitl the last two weeks i rarley got out anywhgere near on time or took breaks (i've been working for 3 months)
