  1. Thank you everyone for your kind words, and Sharrie totally agree the Macmillan nurses are wonderful. The ironic thing is that when I was 17 and in disgrace as I had a baby, I had to move into local authority maisonette in a less salubrious area but I had a lovely health visitor who was really supportive - and now she is my dads nurse. Isn't it funny how peoples paths can cross in unexpexceted ways?

Although I'm so pleased to have passed NCLEX I am worried after reading in some entries that some hospitals that had offereed sponsorship are now withdrawing that. I have to wait til have my official results I suppose to see if I' petitioned.

In the mean time I start a new job as soon as all the HR bits are sorted, it is a trainee nurse practitioner post and I am so excited as this is was I have wanted to do for some time. I should have been doing it with my current Trust - but that is a bit of a sore point! Anyway things moving in the right direction - even if incredibly slowly. Are all HR departments ....how can I put this politley?? .... not vey efficient ot just the ones I have recently dealth with???
  2. I was I had the courage to use a bike - I pulled up to a petrol pump after a bike had vacated it and noticed the cost of the fuel was £6 - and there I was putting £60 in mine.

It's a 750cc Africa Twin, no longer made by Honda and gaining a bit of a cult status in the UK.

Jane I travel 60 miles a day to and from work and my weekly fuel bill is £30.

I'm really glad you have your NP role in hand, if you need any help let me know, I've spent the last 4 years developing and progressing a nurse practitioner service where I work so I can help with business plans, job descriptions and that type of stuff. Also take a really good look at the KSF profile they try to give you and make sure it reflects the band your being paid.
  4. I may take you up on that offer of help - I need to APEL as I start my Masters in Januray and I've never had to do that before.
I've been really lucky as I am not dropping a band to start this and if/when I complete my Master I get a rise. I'm really excited about starting this as it is something I've tried (and failed) to drive forward where I am working now. I know it will happen evetually but it is like swimming in treacle trying to move anything forward in the NHS - at least that has been my experience.
