Shortage Time From UK-USA

World UK

Published

Thought I would start a new thread. I want to know what is the shortest time that any RN has taken to emigrate from UK to the USA? And there are a few of us on here who are starting off or who are on the long road and some nearing the end, and it would be nice to get an average length of time.

For the record most of you know I am going via an agency (cause I didnt find this web site til after I took nclex)

I joined the agency 1st August 2004.

I took my NCLEX 17th january 2005,

Visa screen approved end April 2005

Medical 29th October

Interview US embassy 16th November 2005

Arrived in US 1st Dec 2005

My papers were filed for visa screen and green card last day of January 2005.

It would also help others who are following in our footsteps :balloons:

suzanne, my papers are with the us embassy in feb 04 meaning 2004, but ill pm you with my details. I am currently licensed in california.

If a State requires credits to renew your license it does not matter if you are currently working or not. They will still require them. Don't worry they are really easy to get. You can do them online. There are loads of sites but I use CEBroker.com

February 2004 is 16 months ago...............if you mean 2005 then there is no issue, remember that there has been the retrogression going on, and if I remember correctly you were under its rulings.

The CEUs can be done in a couple of days if needed, but it is more important to make sure that the license doesn't lapse. In most states, you do not need to submit the actual certification of hours with the renewal. This is what I meant by that.

yeah suzanne, apologies, its feb 2005, its just me at work being backwards.

Remember that you were under the retrogression, so nothing is delayed in your case. There were no interviews set up for RNs from the PIC countries over the past six months. :)

Has anybody out there had any dealings with nurses4america I have a telep

hone interview with them shortly but the guy who I spoke to in the UK didn't seem to understand what I was talking about when talking about my nursing transcript and hours etc. Any feedback would be gratefully received. Thanks Jen

I do not have to take cgfns.

I want to go to Florida but am applying for licence via Vermont then transfering it to Florida.

You have to take the NCLEX. This can now be taken in London

Florida is one of the states that you do not have to take the CGFNS. All you need to take is the NCLEX which Ann has already said you can now take in London.

My advice for books is Saunders, and any that have a CDROM - practise questions after questions.

Packet 3 has gone and I am now waiting for packet 4 and medical. :)
