SO EXCITED to start Nursing School!

Nursing Students Student Assist

Today I had to drive almost an hour (100 miles round trip!) to get to the only store near me that carries scrubs. I dutifully brought in the list of approved brands & colors, picked out a bunch of styles, and went into the dressing room. Looking at myself in the mirror wearing those scrubs made it start to feel real....

I'm actually going to do this! I'm FINALLY starting nursing school! After 5 years of part-time night classes, and 2.5 years volunteering at the hospital. I'm ALMOST THERE! I feel overjoyed, nervous, terrified, and excited all balled up into one. :D

My stethoscope is in the mail...my nursing textbooks are on the shelf...my study space is cleared...

Just a few more weeks, and I'm on my way!!

Thanks so much to Allnurses for the support, insight, and help! :redbeathe

Good luck to you! I felt the same way. I'm starting my second semester this coming Feb. and I still feel that way. Sometimes I have to pinch myself!! I'm sure you'll do great! Remember to do all the required reading!! It really does help!!

Good luck to you!! I have to wear a disgusting pre-picked uniform picked by the school, but whatever! I AM IN!! I have orientation tomorrow, 8am, and then classes start on the 25th. I have NO idea what we should expect. I wanted to get a jump start on my studies, but I do not have a syllabus yet!! I don't even have books yet because I have to wait until the first day of classes to pick them up. Hopefully we find out a TON tomorrow, but it is only a 4 hour orientation! I can not believe how varied all of our schools are.

I hope to have my study area cleared by the end of next week. I have to take that room back over from the kids!!

Best of luck!!Stay in touch as best you can with the boards. Don't forget to breath!

I started school jan 4th :) no uniforms yet since we don't start in the nursing home for about another month or so, but we're definitely moving at a fast pace. Sped through cells, homeostasis, and now the body systems. I get to see the director of nursing tomorrow (along with dozens of others) because we made grades lower than 87 D:

Mmmm all I can say is study pre-lecture, definitely read anything they suggest or hand out, and build some good study habits. Figure out how you learn best. Auditory? Visual? Hands on? Maybe you learn best with rhymes or by flash cards. DEFINITELY join a study group. It'll save you several mental lapses ^_^

And watch out for those nasty trick questions on national standard tests >.> I'll defeat them yet! :yeah:

Wish you luck, wish anyone and everyone luck, going into new nursing classes. It's going to be fun and challenging. Don't overload your brain but don't put off studying till the last minute either :) You can't just memorize like in high school. You may not use everything, but you'll need the understanding and terminology later.

:nurse: Now let's go make some awesome prudent nurses! :clpty:

Nursing textbooks-$930 Uniform-$45 Looking at myself in the mirror for the first time wearing it......PRICELESS!!!

Good luck to you....I started on Monday. I know just how you feel:D

Good luck to you!!! I started nursing school in December and I start my first clinicals this month. I feel the same way as you.

Congratulations and good luck to all of you starting this amazing journey!!
