by nurse_student1 Nov 15, '12Hi, Im trying to find answers to a question about the Guthrie test (heel prick test) that is done after birth. Ive looked it up online but found conflicting answers.
Does anyone know, how long after birth this test is performed (?48 hours) and what is the reasoning for the timing?
Thank you

Remember as we give our thoughts....we are in the US and may have different tests and answers as well as required time frame that they need to be done as required by hospital/government policy.
