Professional regulation-help please

Hi, hope someone can help me. I need some help with 'discuss the implications of professional regulation in nursing' ive had a look but all i can find is articles telling me what it is.

Im from the uk so i know that i am governed by the NMC and that they monitor nurses and can remove them from the register. I know the council is made up of 50% laymen 50% nursing members.
