Once again nursing research

I have read multiple posts about nursing research and I have followed directions of how to come up with idea. However what I really have a problem with is finding 2 research articles that would be written by nurses about the same topic and would have the same outcome. My interest in OB. The topic I'm interest in is how to reduce labor pain. If someone could guide me I would highly appreciate.

P.S. I just spent 4 hours trying to find those articles and all I can do right now is cry :crying2: because it seems impossible to do.

I did a CINAHL search for “labor pains” and it yielded me 9 articles. I also chose “peer reviewed” as criteria. Perhaps there isn’t much research about labor pains. I did a second search of labor delivery. There were 33 articles retrieved, all peer reviewed. Have you tried these searches? My last search, I typed in “OB” and got 50 articles.

I hope this helps.

So, I started sifting through the articles and found one: “Aromatherapy for pain management in labour”

Then I did a new search using “aromatherapy” “labor” and “pain” It generated 10 articles on the exact same topic. Sometimes when I am looking for an article, I find one that is interesting. Then I perform a new search of key words from the article that interested me to look for other articles on the same topic.

Thank you sooooo much. What I did wrong was picking the a very narrow topic which did not have much research on and articles deviated too much from each other. Appreciate your help!

Yes, you've got to be sure not to make your search too narrow. I did the same thing when I was doing my paper for research. Good luck on the paper.

Use an online library database like ebsco host. That'll hook you up with the dry, peer reviewed stuff. You won't have as much luck with random googling.

My pleasure...glad to be of help. Although when I went back and read my post, it didn't seem to make much sense. I have to stop replying to posts when I am running on no sleep. I embarrass myslef everytime :eek::eek:

Yeah.. google did not help much since many of the articles are written by MD's. Ebsco is a little more help sice it does give me peer reviewed research articles written by nurses. However to find 2 articles that would have same outcomes of the research seems to be the hardest part to me. I'm getting closer I believe but there is still long way to go :) Find the articles is only the beginning :)

Hmm. Interesting. I'd rather read MD articles. Maybe Google is better! ;)

However the requirement is that the articles have to be written by nurses :(
