OB help

  1. Ok I know that some people say do the work for yourself. Well i have done the work but i seem to be stuck on some info. Does anyone know a link where i can get information on McDonald's Sign. I can tell you that i typed it into medline plus and came up with zero. When i did a general search it came up with every single sign ever created for the McDonald's company. We have yet to recieve our books and this information is due at the start of the quarter. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know much about maternity , but I went into our hospital system and found under the Dorlands Medical Dictionary this info. Hope it helps
McDonald's Rule: the length in cm of the abdominal contour from the upper margin of the pubic symphysis to the fundus of the uterus divided by 3.5 gives the duration of pregnancy in lunar months, applicable only after the 6th month of pregnancy.

this is also listed in my copy of taber's cyclopedic medical dictionary, 18th edition, page 1170, "mcdonald's rule. . .a formula for determining the expected height of the fundus of the pregnant uterus during the second and third trimesters by gestational week. fundal height in centimeters multiplied by 8/7 equals the gestational age. comparing assessment findings with the expected normal measurement for gestational week may indicate a need for ultrasound to rule out intrauterine growth retardation, multiple pregnancy, or hydramnios."
