Nursing Student at 67

by velroc

I am a former engineer and was thinking of getting into nursing, probably LPN, I am a male in good health and age 67.

Is this feasible ? Has anyone ever done it at that age??

It is absolutely feasible!!!! You can do anything you put your mind to. Although you have a few years on me, I too am a non-traditional student and will graduate in May. I figured I'm gonna be X years old anyway, I might as well be X years old and be a nurse. Good Luck to you and I look forward to hearing about your progress on here!!

Recently, a student graduated from my college of nursing with a BSN at the "tender" age of 65. This is a third career for her. She has already found a job and is now working as an RN.

Several of my acquaintances at my secondary employer are nurses who are 65 or older and working full time at the bedside. They are cherished members of the health care team and definitely pull their weight.

Bob,

If this is something that you want, then the only question is why not. We only get one trip through this life so go for it. I don't want to ever say " gee I wish I had done that ". Good luck to you Bob, whatever you decide.
