I am studying GI disorders and one that comes up is called Diverticular Disease, which includes diverticulum, diverticulosis, and diverticulitis. I am having a hard time understanding what it is exactly. Can someone simplify it for me? Thank you in advance for any help.
P.S. This is not homework, just a need to know for my knowledge base.

Look at the suffix to tell you what it is....
Knowing your med term will make these type of questions much easier.

when i think of diverticulum i think of a pocket.... because that is what it is... it's a pocket in the intestines (like a cave)... when something irritates that cave it becomes aggravated and inflammed which will then cause the discomfort the patient displays. soo.... Diverticulosis = the cave
Diverticulitis = the inflammed cave
