Mental status exam help

  1. Hi everyone,
I am looking for any information on the mental status examination.
I am presenting a power point presentation on monday to my class of second year nursing students on the aspects and components of the examination.
    Mood and affect
    speech characteristics
    Perception
    Thought
    Sensorium and cognition
    insight and judgment
    stress and coping patterns
Does anyone have any tests that I could perform with the whole class for a classroom activity.
Any ideas you have would be appreciated

i have a link to geriatric assessment tools. you might find something there that you might be able to adapt to your presentation. you can link into assessment tools for dimentia (confusion), depression and sensory perception.

not sure these are what you are looking for, but they might give you some ideas:

http://www.gamesforgroups.com/therapeuticgames.htm - therapeutic games. click on the left side of the page to access instructions to games on coping, communication, self-discovery, self-esteem, teamwork, and anger management.

http://www.therapygames.com/products.html - therapeutic bingo. while this is an advertisement to buy the cards to play the various games, the idea is clearly related on the page, so a student could easily create his own version without having to buy the cards from the publisher. assertive communication, anger management, self-esteem, positive affirmations, stress management.
