  1. what does it mean "read measurement from bottom of meniscus" when referring to the administration of oral medications?

    When you are measuring a liquid, the level curves ever so slightly down and back up from one side to the other. At the bottom of the meniscus is the lowest point of the curve, when you are looking at it at eye level.

    You see the bottom of the curve is exactly on the line?

    When you took chemistry and biology you would have had occasion to measure fluids in a graduated cylinder, right? Yet another reason to expect carryover from prerequisites to nursing: you will encounter the meniscus again, and here it is.
