Hi all,

First great site!!!

Now, I have to do a teaching plan for a mom 37 week gestation w/ twins (girls). Gravida 4, para 2. She is a walk in scheduled c-section (all other births were lady partsl).

Now here is my problem. I need 5 learning needs for mom and babies! I'm sooooo stuck.

I want to teach about c-section care

Breatfeeding x2

Family change

hemmorrhage (bleeding) if any

Nutrition

and a couple more but I'm stuck!

AND to make things worst I can't seem to fit them into NANDA approved format

Please help. I don't want the answers, I need guidance and Jesus! LOL :chuckle

to teach about aftercare of a c-section requires you to know the information on this yourself. here are two websites where you can read up and might find some ideas to pass on to your patient:

insofar as teaching tools and patient information, many large hospitals are now putting information online. it is very likely that you are going to be able to find a lot of this information complete with salient points highlighted, because they've been written by nurses, on some of these websites. you might even be able to download and copy some pages to use as handouts for the patient that you can attach to the written teaching plan you hand in to your instructor. here's one website i know of, but if you can also do some internet searching for large hospitals that have ob.

breastfeeding
- [effective, ineffective, interrupted] breastfeeding

family change
- readiness for enhanced family coping r/t adjustment to new member of the family

hemorrhage (bleeding) if any
- risk for imbalanced fluid volume r/t loss of blood

nutrition
- readiness for enhanced nutrition r/t increasing the quality of food consumed

after looking at some of the subjects on the medem site (also use the links to navigate around the site and go to other pages of listings there) you most likely will get some ideas of other subjects to approach on a teaching plan.

good luck. have fun!
