Does any one know good resources for retrieving FREE Nursing Articles?

I am interested in getting articles from journals on the following topics:

  • caring for the older adult
  • elimination
  • fluids & electrolytes

I got some for the older adult on nursingworld.org but haven't been able to get for the other topics

Assuming that you are a student as you are posting in the student forum, your school library should have a journal search option available.

Thank you mam.

Yes I am a student.

We are currently on spring break and the school's library is closed. I also live out of state from my school. I am trying to get as much information as I can from all other resources rather than depending on the school's resources alone. I also know that there are experienced people on here who can give the best advice and techniques, that's why I posted asking for other suggestions.

I found it very difficult finding free articles online that were related to the exact information I was seeking. Since your school is closed, do you have a public library?

If you're living in another state from your school, is there a school near you with an open library that you could access?

Have you tried accessing whichever on-line data base your school uses via the library’s website? Every school that I have attended provided online access regardless of whether the library is open or not.

If you are unable to do so, you might find Google Scholar helpful.

I would e-mail your instructor and ask if they subscribe to any...most schools I know of do like CINAHL Complete

Thank you so much. I was able to get some very good articles on google scholar. prior to you suggesting it, i never knew about google scholar. that's why i love asking questions...it introduces me to new things.

Thanks again.

Thank you. I am looking in CINAHL right now. Thing with our instructors, a lot of them push you to get information on your own. When you have Adjunct Professors telling you they dont know this and dont know that, it's kinda pointless depending on them. I actually get more information on here than from my school. Thanks again for your help.

There is a public library next to my house. I plan on visiting them to see what information they have.

Try Medscape. You'll have to register for an account, but it's free. Also take a look at PubMed - affiliated with NLM - some free articles & many links to other free sites.
