Information needed

Nursing Students Student Assist

Published

I am working on a term paper for my BSN course on a business idea. My idea is a patient advocate/consultant who will help patinets with medical forms and basically whatever they feel is needed. My second objective will be to freelance as a medical claims biller till my business is up and running.

I have collected demographics on the population in a tri county area. I am currently have my executive summary and mission statement done and I have done my target audience and laid out the general plan. The problem other then the fact it needs to be a 40 page paper is numbers. Do you think if I use Excel I can do some financial numbers, balance sheet etc and then do a simple pie chart or bar graph for a visual. I really am out of my area and stuggling with this assignment. Please understand that I want to make this simple to read but informative, I am just having trouble locating information. Any helpful websites appreciated.

One of your best courses of action would be to work with a group or preceptor on this. Examples and visuals will take up pages nicely but an experienced RN can help you keep the big picture and make a nice total package. Preop patients do a lot of paperwork. I would look to a nurse in the preop area, surgicenter or same day surgery unit to point you in the right direction. What could take up pages is one preop packet where the patient fills it out by himself and information is missed, then include the same packet after the nurse has helped the patient fill it out more completely, using her experience to create a thorough picture of this patient's ability to tolerate surgery. In your example highlight what info was added through the nurses' midas touch during the patient's preop appointment. Then talk to an anesthesiologist about the red flags that postpone surgeries (certain diabetic drugs, blood thinners, even over the counter herbs). For your conclusion hit the CRNA web sites for future considerations in the world of safe preop nursing. Correct site surgery is a big JCAHO item, you would do well to hit the orthopaedic surgeon web sites too. That road should get you a fabulous paper with lots to show and talk about, and well rounded too!
