11 month old (chronologic age) weighs 6.48 kg (was a 26 weeker)

He is receiving 180 ml 6xs a day via peg tube - 24 cal/oz formula

I think he needs 120 cal/kg/day. Is this right?

If so, then I calculated he needs 777.6 cal in 24 hours.

so what the heck is he getting? For some reason I have a mental block. I guess I need to know how many calories are the in the 180 ml's. I came up with an outlandish number.

Help Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The formula has 24 kcal/oz and there are 30 ml/oz. So you can start out by determining how many oz are in 180 ml ( divide 180 ml by 30). You will then have 6 oz per feeding. If the infant is taking the entire 6 oz X 6 feedings per day, the total intake/day is (6 X 6) or 36 oz.

Now you can multiply the 36 oz X 24 (kcal/oz) to get your daily caloric intake. The answer would be 864 kcal/day.

Hope this helps.
