I don't seem to understand how hypertension is a risk factor for placenta abruption. Does the high blood pressure decreased the circulation to the placenta somehow? What is the in hypertension that makes it a risk factor for placenta abruption?

I think that hypertension would cause placental abruption because of the increased pressure on the vessel from the increased pumping caused by the hypertension. I'm not 100% sure though

Think about what the vessels are doing during hypertension.

What is HTN? What does it do to the body? What damage does it do? How would this effect the delicate membranes of the placenta.
