Usually a primary survey or assessment refers to checking responsiveness and looking for life threats, especially in regard to airway, breathing and circulation.

The signs and symptoms of diabetic problems will vary depending on whether you are referring to hypoglycemic or hyperglycemic episodes. If you're a nurse or nursing student, your med-surg text should cover it in great detail.

here you go, kiddo. this link has the symptoms, signs, labs that will be ordered and what will be seen in the labwork on someone who is in ketoacidosis (diabetic crisis). at the very top of this outline you can click on links to pages that will outline the medical management of this condition in adults and children. i've also included a link to some very good general information on diabetes.
