Drug info help: Betahistine

by calypte

Similar to my last post... can't find a listing for betahistine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Betahistine) in either of my drug books, trade name "Serc"...

If you can find this let me know! I'm looking for important nursing considerations for this drug. Thanks so much!

I've looked in my 2008 drug guide and my PDR 2008 and don't see it listed. I wonder if this is still on the market bc it does state that it was first originated in 1970.

It's not FDA approved in the US anymore because it was brought to the market before the FDA required studies for approval and the company decided it wasn't worth doing the studies to keep it on the market.

Expect to see it back in a few years new and improved as a weight loss pill
