This is a discussion on Connecting the dots with lab work in Nursing Student Assistance, part of Nursing Student ... Why are metamyelocytes, promyelocytes, and myelocytes ordered for patient with massive hemorrhage?...
by Frazzled_One Oct 14, '10Why are metamyelocytes, promyelocytes, and myelocytes ordered for patient with massive hemorrhage? I have the Mosby's diagnostic lab values book but none of these labs are in there.
RBC is normal, Hct and Hgb are low. MCH and MCHC are low. MPV is high. Lymph% and Mono% are low. Neut# is high but I am thinking this is due to trauma. Band neutrophils are low, reative lymphocytes studies ordered but Im not even sure why or what they are.
In the lab work-up, there is Baso% and Basophil%.....Im not sure why. It is the same thing with neutrophils. There is Neut%-74, and Neutrophils%-61??? Very confusing.
Why are there abbreviated and whole word lab studies with different numbers but they are the same lab name: Mono%-2, Monocytes%-0.
